What Exactly Are The Different Degrees Of Hemorrhoids
As you may already have been aware -- hemorrhoids come in various sizes and shapes, and how severe they are can also differ tremendously from case to case. Due to this, there's a way to differentiate between the different degrees of hemorrhoids. By knowing and understanding how minimal or severe hemorrhoids can be, you would appreciate just how much of a distinction there may be!
Before we jump into that, there are some things that you need to be aware of though. Firstly, the various 'levels' of hemorrhoids only apply to internal hemorrhoids (i.e. those that have formed within the rectum). External hemorrhoids (as yet) do not actually have a formal system to determine how severe they are, and the difference needs to be quite clear.
More importantly however, there's one term that you must learn about, and that is 'prolapsed hemorrhoids'.
In the event you've heard of this before, great, but if you haven't then you need to know that prolapsed hemorrhoids are essentially just internal hemorrhoids that have developed and been pushed out the anus itself. Due to this, they look like growths extending from the anus itself, plus they can bleed and be extremely painful at times.
Anyway, now that we have covered that, here are the four degrees of internal hemorrhoids:
1. Grade 1
So far as hemorrhoids go, these are the mildest and consist of hemorrhoids that don't prolapse. That means that they remain as internal hemorrhoids but may bleed when irritated. Generally speaking, the majority of hemorrhoids are within this grade, and some may even pass totally unnoticed by those who suffer from it.
2. Grade 2
Compared to Grade 1, Grade 2 hemorrhoids do prolapse, although they minimize in size very quickly afterwards. So while you might have a prolapsed hemorrhoid for quite some time, it is going to shrink and reduce in size until it almost isn't there at all.
3. Grade 3
Next in line will be the type of hemorrhoids that do prolapse, but don't reduce straight away. In fact, they need to be 'manually' reduced, through various procedures, treatments, and other things. All said and done, this s really pesky because it would require you to deal with the hemorrhoid as soon as possible.
4. Grade 4
Last, but definitely not least, is the most severe variety of hemorrhoid -- and this is of the kind that can't be manually reduced. Unfortunately, this leaves you with hardly any options, and it's quite tedious... to say the least.
Do you see how the totally different degrees of hemorrhoids can differ significantly? Being aware of the various types of hemorrhoids that are out there, and improving your very own understanding in general will certainly be of help to you as you fight your very own hemorrhoids!
